BROTHER SAVE US
DAY FOR NIGHT
I would like to explore the thought of shooting some nighttime scenes during peak daylight noon time to have the sun as high as possible and in grade make it look like night. I rather have a style to our film where we can see the horizon then have it falling of to black due to budget restrictions that will mean we will feel restricted on shooting style, angles and acting. I want to see “everything” in th night.
Lets make something that stands out.
'Ive even added some pictures from Django Unchained and True Grit, shot by Roger Deakins and Robert Richardson, not even on those big budgets they make it look like night and tbh I dont think it looks good either.
Ive added here some examples from Lawrence Of Arabia where I like the style and I feel it would suit our film. Again, I rather have a style then to go the normal route. I would then look at shooting nice daylight scenes in the morning and then when the sun is high noon switch to night LUT. Or start noon with Night and in the evening switch to Daylight sunset & magic hour. That way we can save money on not as many nightshoots and keep the crew more fresh and have more time to shoot then waiting on big lightrigs. Another thing also regarding Jesses fathers tv, by going day for night we have better control over the exposure.
